CERT ACTION & SERVICE
The Westshore Regional CERT proudly supports its
communities—assisting in public safety force training
exercises, responding to communitywide emergencies
and participating in other community service projects.
With basic training completed, CERT members assist in
community disasters by:
•
Conducting an initial review in their homes or
workplaces.
•
Reducing immediate dangers by turning off utilities,
suppressing small fires, evacuating the area and
helping others.
•
Treating people in the immediate area.
•
Working with fellow CERT members and volunteers to establish a
command post, staging area, and medical triage and treatment
areas.
•
Collecting damage information and developing a plan of
operations based on life-saving priorities and resources available.
•
Establishing and maintaining communication with professional
first responders.
•
Applying their training to other situations where CERT can make
a difference.
