Get Involved
Residents of Bay Village, Fairview Park,
Lakewood, North Olmsted, Rocky River and
Westlake are welcome to complete the free training
and participate as members of the Westshore
Regional CERT. While the training is free to all
Westshore residents whether participants join the
team or not, team membership requirements include
being over 18 years of age, completing the 20-hour
basic training course (offered twice per year), and
pass a background check.
The course enables citizens to:
•
Identify and mitigate potential hazards
•
Initiate plans to prepare for disasters
•
Learn skills to assist themselves and
others until professional responders
arrive
•
Work cooperatively as a team within
their volunteer areas
•
Establish relationships with team’s
sponsoring agencies
•
Understand their capabilities,
limitations and roles when deployed
CERT members receive ongoing training through general meetings, training with the WSC and
teams across the county, online opportunities and real-life exercises with professional responders.

Support Preparedness:
Don’t have the time or resources to become a full-fledged member? The Westshore Regional CERT
can still use your help through financial donations or other in-kind support. The WSC is a nonprofit,
tax deductible organization under the Westshore Council of Governments. While the cities support the
team in many ways, all equipment, supplies, and training needs are met through grants and donations.
Monetary donations may be made out to the Westshore Regional CERT and mailed to:
